Ranakpur This cozy little village and pilgrimage site in Rajasthan is known as the city of temples. A king named Rana Kumbha gave land to a wealthy merchant to build a Jain temple. One of the most beautiful spiritual sites in India, the Ranakpur temple features high domed ceilings and wide corridors. The ceiling is decorated with intricate carvings of nymphs and apsaras playing musical instruments. Made of white marble, it includes 29 halls, 80 domes, and 1,444 individually carved columns. The pillars are decorated in peach and beige colors. It displays intricate carvings of elephants, floral and human figures. Interestingly, no two pillars are the same!
