Álamos is a town in Álamos Municipality in the Mexican state of Sonora, in northwestern Mexico. Historically an important center of silver mining, the town's economy is now dominated by the tourist sector.

Archaeological Zone of Paquimé, Casas Grandes Paquimé, Casas Grandes, which reached its apogee in the 14th and 15th centuries, played a key role in trade and cultural contacts between the Pueblo culture of the south-western United States and northern Mexico and the more advanced civilizations of Mesoamerica. The extensive remains, only part of which have been excavated, are clear evidence of the vitality of a culture which was perfectly adapted to its physical and economic environment, but which suddenly vanished at the time of the Spanish Conquest.

Copper Canyon, in northern Mexico, is a series of massive canyons in the Sierra Madre Occidental mountains. Popular for hiking, it gets its name from the copper-green hue of the canyon walls. The famous Chepe (Ferrocarril Barrancas del Cobre) train connects the region via over 80 tunnels and nearly 40 bridges. Divisadero, a photo stop on the line, offers views into Urique Canyon. The New Spanish arrived in the Copper Canyon area in the 17th century and encountered the indigenous locals throughout Chihuahua. For the New Spanish, America was a new land to explore for gold and silver and also to spread Christianity. The New Spanish named the people they encountered "Tarahumara", derived from the word Rarámuri, which is what the indigenous people call their men.

The line crosses some of Mexico’s most rugged terrain; hugging the edge of mountains, and crossing deep ravines on its bridges. The scenery it travels through is truly breathtaking. Hermosillo is a city located in the center of the northwestern Mexican state of Sonora. It is the municipal seat of the homonymous municipality, the state's capital and largest city, as well as the primary economic center for the state and the region. Hermosillo was ranked as one of the five best cities to live in, in Mexico, as published in the study "The Most Livable Cities of Mexico 2013" by the Strategic Communications Cabinet of the Mexican Federal Government. The major manufacturing sector has the production of automobiles since the 1980s. Hermosillo has a subtropical hot desert climate (BWh). Temperatures have been as high as 49.5 °C (121.1 °F) in the summer months, making it one of the hottest cities in the country.

The Mayo or Yoreme are an indigenous group in Mexico, living in the northern states of southern Sonora, northern Sinaloa and small settlements in Durango. Mayo people originally lived near the Mayo River and Fuerte River valleys. The Mayo sustain themselves mainly by agriculture and fishing, but also create artwork and crafts.

Tucson is located in Pima County, southern Arizona, the largest city in the southern part of the state and the second largest city in the state (Phoenix is the largest). The city is located in the Phoenix-Tucson Sun Valley Corridor, surrounded by mountains on three sides. The arid and sunny climate has long attracted retirees from all over the country to come to provide care. Optical manufacturing, aviation and electronics industry are the pillar industries of the city. The world’s largest aircraft cemetery and aviation museum, the Pima Aviation Museum is also located in the city.

San Carlos is a seaside subdivision within the port city of Guaymas. It is famous for its shallow bays with exceptionally clear and warm waters. Many Americans and Canadians live in San Carlos in the winter because the summer is very hot and humid, just like Texas. Another popular sport in San Carlos is sailing, which is the sailing capital of Sonora.
