Built from a carved dark stone rather than the typical brick and wood, this magnificent work of architecture shows influence from Hindu temple design and is the first stone temple of its kind in Nepal. According to legend, the Krishna Temple was inspired by a dream. King Siddi Narsingh Malla dreamed one night that he saw Krishna and the gods Radha standing in front of the royal palace, at the same location, and the king ordered a temple to be built to fulfill his dream and pay homage.
