The Golden Temple of Patan is a golden-domed pagoda-style temple located in the north of Durbar Square. Legend has it that the temple was built by the King of Nepal in the 12th century, but the earliest record of its existence can only be traced back to 1409. The two stone lions guarding the door are gorgeous and tacky. Seeing them, you would never imagine that the interior structure of the Golden Temple is so magnificent. There is an exquisite statue of Sakyamuni in the main hall. In the small space, there are murals, 14th-century statues and scriptures. Buddha statues are arranged in rows, goddesses ride on elephants, and bronze snakes hang from the roof to receive prayers.
